The city is rich in monuments ranging from the Roman period (Porta Palatina, theatre) to the Baroque period, with the most important artistic development for the city up to the modern age (see the Mole Antonelliana, symbol of the city). Starting from Piazza Castello with the beautiful Royal Palace and the Guarini Chapel, you will find elegant buildings and churches everywhere in the streets of the centre with treasures of the Savoy and Piedmontese nobility: Palazzo Carignano with its façade, the buildings lined with arcades in Piazza San Carlo that inevitably attract attention. The long tree-lined avenues that end in open squares are typical of Turin, and the green areas along the river Po are particularly popular, especially the Valentino Park, once the hunting lodge of the Savoy family with its beautiful castle influenced by French architecture. There are important museums in the city, especially the Egyptian Museum (second only to the one in Cairo), the Sabauda Gallery, the National Artillery Museum, the museums dedicated to the Risorgimento, cars and cinema.
