After breakfast, departure for a full-day excursion along the French Riviera.
Visit Menton, the “City of Lemons,” located in the mildest area of the Côte d’Azur, famous for its colorful architecture, gardens, and unique Mediterranean atmosphere that has fascinated visitors for nearly 250 years.
Continue to the renowned Hanbury Botanical Garden in Capo Mortola (Ventimiglia). Founded in 1867 and covering around 18 hectares, it is designed in the style of a classic English landscape garden. The garden unfolds through different thematic areas and climate zones, offering a remarkable botanical experience overlooking the sea.
Today’s excursion explores the historic and natural heritage of Albenga, a town rich in archaeology and medieval architecture.
After crossing the Centa River, you will visit the remains of the Roman amphitheatre before continuing along the ancient Roman road, the Via Julia Augusta, where well-preserved funerary monuments can still be seen.
The walk continues through Mediterranean vegetation filled with aromatic scents, including carob trees, Aleppo pines, and eucalyptus, with panoramic views over the sea and the island of Gallinara.
Along the route, you will encounter medieval churches such as Sant’Anna ai Monti and Santa Croce.
Your hiking guide—an expert in wild herbs and foraging—will introduce you to the edible plants of the region, explaining their uses and traditions.
The experience continues with a visit to a local farm near Albenga specializing in organic edible flowers, followed by tastings and a small live cooking demonstration.
